Shrunkala Devi Temple (Pradyumna)
Pandua, Hooghly District, West Bengal 712149
History & Historical Heritage
The Shrunkala Devi Temple, traditionally located in the ancient town of Pradyumna (modern-day Pandua in Hooghly District, West Bengal), is the third of the Astadasa Shakti Peethas. The goddess is believed to represent the stomach or torso of Goddess Sati. The original historical temple was destroyed during early Islamic invasions in the 14th century, and a historic victory tower (Pandua Minar) was erected on its ruins. Today, devotees worship the sacred spot at the ruins during annual festivals, and a newly built Shrunkala Devi temple nearby serves as the primary center of worship.
